Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) has won the Primary Care Award as part of the prestigious 2019 Value Based Health Care (VBHC) Prize.

The Award recognises outstanding primary care initiatives across the world, with DHSV receiving the Primary Care Award for their Value Based Health Care model.

The Award highlights the potential of DHSV’s innovative program to fundamentally change how oral health treatment is delivered and reduce the overwhelming burden of oral disease, particularly for vulnerable groups and those experiencing disadvantage in the community.

DHSV Chief Executive Officer, Dr Deborah Cole, and DHSV Board Chair, Dr Zoe Wainer attended the VBHC Prize event in Amsterdam last week to accept the award.

“It’s an honour to be recognised by the VBHC Centre Europe for our commitment to achieving the health outcomes that matter to patients,” said Dr Cole.

“This award puts DHSV and our VBHC initiative on the global map, providing a platform for us to inspire health care providers all over the world,” she said.

As the lead public oral health agency in Victoria, DHSV’s move to value based health care focuses on achieving the best outcomes for people in the most cost-effective way.

The overall Value Based Health Care Prize recognises, supports and embraces initiatives that redefine healthcare and adopt a new line of thinking in creating excellent patient value.
