Dental Health Services Victoria marked its 20th birthday celebration with a visit by Victorian Health Minister the Hon. Jill Hennessy MP at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.
Minister Hennessy joined in the festivities by announcing a $2 million funding increase for a new mobile dental van, and an upgrade to imaging technology and IT systems at the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne.
DHSV CEO, Dr Deborah Cole, said the upgrades will deliver better and safer diagnosis and quicker treatment of dental conditions and improve dental health for some of the most vulnerable Victorians.
“We have not wavered from our goal to improve the oral health of the Victorian community and we celebrate that today. The Government’s announcement today will help in our mission to treat those most vulnerable to oral health disease.
“To our 51 staff members, who have been with us since DHSV started, thank you for your years of service and the wealth of experience that you bring to the organisation. To those that have joined our family recently, we appreciate you choosing DHSV as your employer of choice. I know you many of you will be instrumental in the next 20 years of incredible milestones and achievements.”
Minister Hennessy, who met with patients and staff during her visit, said “This funding boost will mean more Victorians will receive faster, safer diagnosis, care and treatment of dental conditions – closer to home and when they need it.
Congratulations to Dental Health Services Victoria on 20 fantastic years of dedicated service to our community.”
