2016 oral health profiles released for Victoria

LGA profilesDental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) has released the 2016 oral health profiles for local government areas (LGA).

Statistical profile of each LGA includes indicators relating to:

  • Tooth decay experience for children and adults attending public dental services
  • Potentially Preventable Hospitalisations (PPH) due to dental conditions for 0-4 year old children
  • Self-rated dental health
  • Last visit to a dental professional
  • Modifiable health risk behaviours that may impact oral health

DHSV Acting CEO Mark Sullivan said “the profiles are designed to provide councils with population oral health data to undertake comprehensive public health and wellbeing planning,

DHSV in partnership with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services has developed oral health profiles for local government to become more involved in promoting oral health in the community.

The profiles also include information on smoking rates, sugar consumption, alcohol use and fruit and vegetable consumption for each LGA.
