RDHM celebrates Refugee Week

During Refugee Week, The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne will be hosting a line-up of lunchtime performances to entertain patients and staff.

Join our musicians at every day during the week of 16 to 20 June from 11am at the foyer and at Toothpicks from 12.30pm.

Monday

Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRC) Music Group -Sajeewa Gayan (Sri Lanka), Maggie Lama (PNG) and Dale Gorfinkel

Tuesday

Awaz Hezal, Kurdish musician plays hauntingly beautiful music on the stringed baglama and the ney, a wind instrument.

Wednesday

Ajak Kwai from South Sudan sings traditional and contemporary songs, accompanied on keyboard by Simon Lewis. Ajak sings about freedom, peace, love and… cows.

Thursday

Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRC) Music Group - Haftu Abrha, Rahel Abraham and Tadesse Demissie from Ethiopia

Friday

A number of beautiful voices from the Iranian Women’s Group Ava - Marjan, Saghar, Rosa and Sohalia accompanied by Mr. Misagh, Z on Guitar

About Refugee Week 2014

Refugee Week is Australia's peak annual activity to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.

Refugee Week is always held from Sunday to Saturday of the week which includes 20 June (World Refugee Day).

In 2014, Refugee Week will be held from Sunday 15 June to Saturday 21 June.
