The best in the public dental business were recognised last night at the 2014 Public Oral Health Awards ceremony.
The awards, presented by Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV), are given annually to dental professionals and community members who go above and beyond to care for those Victorians most in need of dental treatment.
Winners of the Star of Public Dentistry, Public Dental Clinic of the Year, Public Oral Health Project of the Year and Community Oral Health Champion were announced at an awards ceremony at The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, Carlton.
DHSV CEO Dr Deborah Cole said the Award nominations highlighted just how many great projects, clinics and staff there are out in the Victorian public dental sector. “Our nominees were of an exceptional calibre this year and it wasn’t easy for the judges to come to a final decision,” Dr Cole said.
“I am heartened to see that the public dental sector is staffed with dedicated professionals who want to take oral health promotion and care to the next level. It is great to see other members of the community, not necessarily clinicians, doing their part to promote the importance of oral health too,” she said.
“There is so much innovation and initiative within public oral health and community organisations and it is great to be able to recognise that important work.”
Award winners received $5,000 toward a professional development activity of their choice, as well as a hand-made glass trophy from local artist Philip Stokes.
