Six General Practitioners have commenced on a two week intensive training program in oral health with Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) to prepare them for a range of placements with the Australian Polar Division.
The participants will take up their duties at either Casey or Mawson base or on Macquarie Island where they will be responsible for the medical and oral health care of all the staff at their base.
The program is being presented by Adjunct Professor Hanny Calache, Associate Professor Werner Bishof, Dr Sean Hogan, Dr Ben Scully and DHSV departmental staff.
This is a fee-for-service program which DHSV delivers at least once a year for the Polar Division, Australian Government Department of Environment, Antarctic Division.
DHSV also provides ongoing clinical advice via telephone once the participants take up their placements.
