Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS)

Help is available for people living in rural and remote areas of Victoria, who must travel to see a medical specialist. This includes Specialist Dental treatment at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.

Medical Companion Service

V line and the City of Melbourne support the Medical Companion Service.

Volunteers can meet travellers. They can go with travellers to and from medical appointments in Melbourne and Seymour.

It is a free service that runs from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, as well as on weekends and out of hours on request.

The service must be booked 72 hours (3 days) before travel.

Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT)

Transport is available for people who require clinical monitoring or assistance when travelling to and from an appointment at Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. NEPT needs to be authorised as clinically necessary by an appropriate health professional. Most NEPT transfers occur between home and hospital.

How to arrange NEPT Booking?

The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne can book NEPT transport on your behalf. You will not be able to book the service yourself.

What happens after a NEPT booking has been made?

You will receive a booking confirmation number.
